For the second consecutive year, the FIMA takes you AT THE MOVIES, in collaboration with the Vidéographe and National Bank. Three young and talented film makers will take part in this series of innovative short films: Étienne de Massy (Quebec), Owen Eric Wood (Quebec) and Mihai Grecu (Romania). The films will be projected under the stars, on the National Bank branch wall located at the entrance of the site, corner Saint-Hubert. Some magic under the stars!

JULY 9 Étienne de Massy

Étienne de Massy graduated from the Concordia University and studied at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York. His work focuses on the construction of forms, patterns and volumes within time and space and explores the relationships between figuration and abstraction, narration and experimentation. In 2009, he received the 1st prize of the VAD (Digital Video Arts) in Spain for Somnia_3.

JULY 10_Owen Eric Wood www.owenericwood.com

Born in Toronto, Wood holds a BAA in Journalism from Ryerson University and a BFA in Studio Art from Concordia University. His videos and video installations have been shown at festivals around the world. Owen Eric Wood’s video work is a series of self-portraits that blur the distinction between subjective expression and objective documentation. He uses self-portraits to construct personal narratives that confront social and philosophical issues, such as stereotypes, disconnection from family and the reassertion of individual identity.

JULY 11 Mihai Grecu www.mihaigrecu.org

Born in Romania in 1981, Mihai Grecu now lives and works in Paris. He graduated from the ESAD in Strasbourg and from the Fresnoy Studio of Contemporary Arts, in France. Oscillating between video art, cinematography and 3D animation, his imagery breeds dreamlike visions of a dehumanized atmosphere infiltrated by parasitic objects, modified architectures and symbolic characters. His works have been shown in numerous film festivals and exhibitions throughout the world.
