FIMA (Festival International Montréal en Arts)
invites you to its 10th edition, taking place on St-Catherine
St. from July 2 to July 5. Four days to enjoy this
unique opportunity to meet more than 135 artists from
the realms of visual arts and craftwork originating
from Quebec, Ontario and other provinces, the U.S.,

the 2nd consecutive year, FIMA will be highlighting
the promising talent of emerging visual artists by
offering six of them a chance to show the products
of their inexhaustible imagination.Marie-Claire

In
collaboration with Vidéographe, FIMA presents
fifteen short films from Canada, Quebec, France, Belgium
and Holland. Take 20 minutes of your time to look
at abstract, metaphorical or narrative works relating
to multiple aspects of life, seen through the eyes
of exploratory filmmakers. |

/ GENE STARSHIP - Six
well-known graffiti artists from Montreal will play
the Exquisite Corpse game, consisting of creating
an artwork from traces left by a previous artist.
During three days, they will paint before your eyes
six 6’ x 3’ works on a folding screen,
surrounded by the musical atmosphere of DJs. |

From
9 pm to 11 pm, come live a space odyssey in an embracing
atmosphere of sounds and images combined by innovative
DJs and VJs, many of whom come directly from the SAT
(Société des arts technologiques). |

The
10th FIMA is offering you a series of wild and delirious
performances, created by multidisciplinary artists
from Quebec and Ontario. Those interactive activities
will call out to you and mess you up, take you into
an adventure, a thought, and sheer madness!!! They
will take place in a tent, as well as in the Experimental
Laboratory.

A
number of prizes have been awarded to exhibiting artists
during FIMA’s 10 editions. These artists were
chosen by a jury of recognized peers. This year, the
Festival is showing a retrospective of all the winners
at the Galerie Dentaire. More that 15 artists will
take part in the show. |

BMO
–Bank of Montreal is opening the doors of its
branch during the week-end. In the superb historical
building constructed in 1904, the works of previous
winners of the Public’s Choice Award will be
shown. |
